Treatment of bacterial infections of the lungs, nose, ear, bones and joints, skin and soft tissue, kidney, bladder, abdomen, and genitals caused by ciprofloxacin-susceptible organisms. Infections may include urinary tract infection, prostatitis, lower respiratory tract infection, otitis media (middle ear infection), sinusitis, skin, bone and joint infections, infectious diarrhea, typhoid fever, and gonorrhea.
May be taken with or without food. May be taken w/ meals to minimise GI discomfort. Do not take w/ antacids, Fe or dairy products.
Hypersensitivity to ciprofloxacin or other quinolones. History or risk of QT prolongation; known history of myasthenia gravis. Concomitant use with tizanidine.
Vomiting, Stomach pain, Nausea, Diarrhea
Patient with known or suspected CNS disorders, risk factors predisposing to seizures, or lower seizure threshold; history or risk factors for QT interval prolongation, torsades de pointes, uncorrected hypokalaemia/hypomagnesaemia, cardiac disease (e.g. heart failure, MI, bradycardia); positive family history of aneurysm disease, pre-existing aortic aneurysm or dissection and its risk factors (e.g. Marfan syndrome, vascular Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, hypertension, peripheral atherosclerotic vascular disease); diabetes, previous tendon disorder (e.g. rheumatoid arthritis), G6PD deficiency. Renal and hepatic impairment. Elderly, children. Pregnancy and lactation.

Converts to sulfamethoxazole by Healthcare Reagent / Antibiotic for up to 36 hours. Do not use if you are hypersensitive to ciprofloxacin. Storage below 25°C is important.The most common adverse events in children treated with CIPRO 1 mg/d are nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache and abdominal pain. Some children may also have a severe reaction to any of the following: epinephrine, carbimazole or phenytoin. There is evidence that children who have had anaphylaxis to other drugs can also develop serious reactions. These reactions are usually mild and self-limiting. Anaphylaxis is a very serious reaction that requires immediate treatment. In some cases, it can be fatal. Other serious reactions are as follows: skin rash with blisters or swelling of the lips, tongue or face, swelling of the face, chest, back and throat, shortness of breath. If you have anaphylaxis, immediately call the local Poison Control Centre for emergency medical treatment. A serious reaction to this drug can be fatal. If you have severe reaction, you should be investigated with a poison control centre. If you have been taking other medicines and your symptoms change, you should contact your local poison control centre immediately.
Do not take CIPRO 1 mg/d if you:
• are allergic to ciprofloxacin, cefotaxime or any of the ingredients in CIPRO 1 mg/d
• have an allergic reaction (hypersensitive to ciprofloxacin, cefotaxime or any of the ingredients in CIPRO 1 mg/d) to any of the ingredients in CIPRO 1 mg/d
• take nitrofurantoin or any of the ingredients in CIPRO 1 mg/d
• are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. The use of CIPRO 1 mg/d is not recommended for use by children under 12 years.
• have ever had an allergic reaction to ciprofloxacin, cefotaxime or any of the ingredients in CIPRO 1 mg/d
• are breastfeeding or plan to breastfeed.
